1. Buy quality
Low-quality toys break easily and are never worth the low price tag. Instead of going for inferior toys, look out for brand items on sale or get gently used toys for the same or lower costs. You just need to know where to buy. Good quality toys are not only durable, but they stimulate the child’s imagination. They will not do everything for the little one, so they require creativity rather than batteries.
2. Buy less
Do not overbuy. Children never require very many toys. In my years as a child care provider, I realized that too many toys led to an overload in their stimulation, causing them to be unable to pay attention to any playing activity. Set practical limits. Let’s say; you can establish a rule that they should not have more than what fits in the bin.
3. Buy gently used
Most of the toys in the second-hand market are high quality, considering that they are durable thus can be used by many children. I always find yard sales most appropriate for buying gently used toys. The internet also offers a wide variety of options, with the many trade websites such as eBay and Amazon. Before purchasing a second-hand item, however, make sure you check the price of a new one. That way, you will make a sound shopping decision.
4. Use coupons
Nowadays, there are many companies offering coupons. Find coupons for board games, toys and card games and any other toys of choice. Mostly, they are available during the holiday seasons, but you can also get them at different times too.
5. Buy on clearance
I realized that the best time to buy toys is during a clearance sale. The dolls are usually in excellent condition, but since they want to get new stock, they offer discounted prices for them. Therefore, do not be skeptical about purchasing such toys.
